چکیده
Mixtures of clay and sand suspended in water are complex systems encountered many industrial environmental applications, but their understanding modelling still limited require further investigations. In this way, the rheological behaviour pure non-thixotropic coarse-grained suspensions is investigated with a rotational rheometer equipped by an inclined blade vane-in-cup, where type volume fraction both fine coarse materials varied. The Herschel–Bulkley model τ=τy+Kγ̇n used to describe successfully flow curves relating shear stress τ rate γ̇, from which yield τy, consistency K index n deduced. main contributions study (i) validate vane-in-cup for estimation polymer microgels, suspensions, (ii) conclude on most appropriate predict over wide range fractions, (iii) highlight how frictional contacts grains may play role bulk suspensions. We believe that work would be useful improving description cohesive geophysical applications.

Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Freezing Behavior of Pure Water and 14% Water-NaCl Mixture Using the Coarse-Grained Model
We performed molecular dynamics simulations using the coarse-grained model to study the freezing behavior of pure water and 14% water-salt mixture in a wide range of temperatures for a very long time around 50 nanoseconds. For the salty water, an interface in nanoscale was used. For both systems, the f...

The discusser wishes to congratulate the authors for their excellent paper. He would like to discuss some possible drag reduction effects. The discusser has reanalyzed the authors' data assuming quasi-uniform flows at the end of the channel. For the clearwater flow experiments (runs C-1 and C-2), the data suggest an equivalent roughness height k, of the flume (smooth plexiglass) between 0.15 mm...
متن کاملPolyacrylamide-Clay Nanocomposite Hydrogels: Rheological and Light Scattering Characterization
The free-radical polymerization of acrylamide in aqueous clay dispersions and the structure of the resulting polymer-clay nanocomposite hydrogels have been investigated by rheometry using oscillatory deformation tests. Laponite was used as clay particles in the hydrogel preparation. The reactions were carried out with and without the presence of the chemical cross-linker N,N′-methylenebis(acryl...
متن کاملClay: Fine-Grained Adaptive Partitioning for General Database Schemas
Transaction processing database management systems (DBMSs) are critical for today’s data-intensive applications because they enable an organization to quickly ingest and query new information. Many of these applications exceed the capabilities of a single server, and thus their database has to be deployed in a distributed DBMS. The key factor affecting such a system’s performance is how the dat...
متن کاملRheological behaviour of suspensions of bubbles in yield stress fluids
The rheological properties of suspensions of bubbles in yield stress fluids are investigated through experiments on model systems made of monodisperse bubbles dispersed in concentrated emulsions. Thanks to this highly tunable system, the bubble size and the rheological properties of the suspending yield stress fluid are varied over a wide range. We show that the macroscopic response under shear...
